Started a new project in my Barlife series – now doing a study of The Suffield Arms Norfolk.
An absolutely fabulous, atmospheric place.
Wonderful lighting, stylish surroundings
What else would a photographer want?
Evening Light
These two chaps were delightful.
It was late in the afternoon, they were having a quiet conversation – they’ve seen it all before, said it all before.
I loved the window, it gives the pool table a reverential feel,
almost like we’re in Church.
Nothing wrong with that I hear you say.
In thankfulness
These two chaps were walkers.
I like the way both their hands were clasped almost in prayer.
They certainly seemed to be in no hurry to leave.
Untitled
I should have taken his name, he kept his composure,
despite his friends giving him a hard time for posing for
the photograph.
The Demon Player
He had the look in his eye… nothing was going to beat him.
Wonderful Cocktail bar, with lots of Artwork around the place.
Everywhere you look, there is something new to discover.
Mixing the cocktails
How much rope?
The owner had a huge rope for such a little dog, I think he thought it gave his animal a certain style and street cred’ – I think he’s right.
A certain look
This guy had a lot of presence and good direct eye contact.
What is interesting here is the painting behind him.
A conventional portrait of what appears to be Christ, but is in fact a self portrait by the artist Albrecht Durer. On closer inspection, however, you realise it is a direct copy by Gilliam Wearing, who’s eyes lurk, staring at you from under the canvas.
Nothing is what it seems to be.
Expect the unexpected
All you have to do, is know where to look.
